Advantages of mesh over a solid wall?

I see mostly ads for "wanted" or "used" solid wall display units on here and was wondering if anyojne had a strong preference for one over another and the reasons? It would seem to me that mesh would be far superior for places where a little breeze would be welcome, but I wonder if they might not let too much light thru and "blank out" the items displayed? New member... TIA!

I would agree that mesh panels are nice when you need a breeze, but they are just too visually distracting for most work to display well against them. The light coming though from behind the panel makes it hard to see details in the work hanging thereon. I'd stick to the carpeted panels from Armstrong or Propanel.

I use mesh because I have a small vehicle and they take up a lot less space and they're easier to carry. There were a couple of shows last summer when I appreciated the breeze.

Greg, point taken on that one, and for a situation where you'd be backlit (in a dark tent interior with no exterior walls) I can see the obvious problem... wouldn't a mesh setup with cloth drapes to block the exterior light outweigh (no pun intended!) the difference in carry weight between mesh and carpeted? I still pine for the mesh interior as I could hang so much small ropework and fancy stuff... the mesh seems that it would be perfect. I am fed up working off one or two table tops. I'll make a decision soon and have a report after the Germantown Friends Crafts show... first I'm doing in 2012 (March). Of course, I don't want to go loading up on a lot of outlay.... December of 2012 and all that, y'know... won't get a chance to deduct anything! (Darn those Mayans...)
